International Noise Awareness Day was started in 1996 to raise awareness of unwanted noise and its dangers. Today, April 26, is this year’s observance.
Noise has auditory and non-auditory health effects. Auditory health effects include hearing loss, tinnitus, and hyperacusis. Non-auditory health effects include hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and increased mortality.
We hope everyone will be aware of noise and will join The Quiet Coalition and Quiet Communities, Inc. in our efforts to make the world a quieter, healthier, and better place for all.
