We have written several blog posts over the years about fireworks frightening animals, especially dogs, but this article in Patch discusses how fireworks sounds can trigger post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms in military veterans.

There are several other groups who are also at risk for stronger than usual reactions to fireworks noise: babies and children, people with hyperacusis, those with autism spectrum disorder, refugees from war-torn regions, and people who just don’t like loud noise.

We wish municipal authorities would enforce laws against home fireworks use, and would require authorized displays to use silent fireworks.

A quieter world will be a better and more peaceful world for all.
