In 1996, Nancy Nadler at New York City’s nonprofit Center for Hearing and Communication, working with The Quiet Coalition’s Arline Bronzaft and others, created and introduced International Noise Awareness Day. Next week on April 30 is the 30th celebration of INAD. INAD is now celebrated in almost every state and in countries around the world. For example, we found this announcement from South Africa. The purpose of INAD has always been to raise awareness of the harmful effects of noise on hearing, health and the quality of life. As CHC says, “Protect your hearing. Protect your health!”
Noise isn’t just a nuisance. Noise is unwanted and/or harmful sound. Please join us at The Quiet Coalition and our parent organization, Quiet Communities, Inc., in working together to make the world quieter. A quieter world will be a better and healthier world for all.
