How loud is too loud? An online site for high school students, Science News for Students, says that it’s either 75 decibels or 70 decibels.

The article mentions The Quiet Coalition’s Jan Mayes by name, and cites two papers she and I wrote about noise and hearing. TQC’s Rick Neitzel is also cited.

Just to be sure you know, 85 decibels is not a safe noise level for the public.

Remember: if it sounds loud, it’s too loud, and your hearing is at risk. Turn down the volume, use hearing protection, or leave the noisy environment to protect your hearing.
