Our friends at Hearing Health Foundation let us know that in celebration of World Hearing Day yesterday they launched a new 60-second video about the risks of hearing loss from noise exposure, with advice about how to keep listening, safely:
This ties right in with the World Health Organizaton’s theme for this year’s World Hearing Day, “To hear for life, listen with care.”
Prevention of disease doesn’t get much respect any more–if it ever did–but the CDC correctly states that noise-induced hearing loss is the only form of hearing loss that is entirely preventable.
As we like to say, “If it sounds loud, it’s too loud and your hearing is at risk. Turn down the volume, use hearing protection, or develop auditory disorders later.”
