On Wednesday, September 22nd, the Village of Larchmont celebrated the opening of Westchester County’s first-ever AGZA Certified Green Zone® in Kane Park. Green Zones are described as properties that use low-impact electric equipment and people-powered tools for basic grounds maintenance, demonstrating sustainable landscaping methods. The first municipal Green Zone was established in California in 2016, and they are currently being established around the United States.
Dan Mabe, AGZA President, has been overseeing Kane Park’s equipment usage and emissions monitoring since March 2021, in collaboration with Quiet Communities, Inc. Jamie Banks, PhD, MS, developed Quiet Communities in Lincoln, Massachusetts, to help communities reduce the health and environmental impact caused by noise and pollution.
