Every day, people are affected by harmful noise from leaf blowers, vehicles with noisy mufflers, aircraft and data centers located too close to residential neighborhoods. The list goes to include retail stores, bars, restaurants, coffee houses, gyms and yoga and Pilates studios. So, do you crave quiet? If you do, you will probably like a new grassroots initiative from The Quiet Coalition’s parent organization, national nonprofit Quiet Communities, Inc. to create quieter, healthier communities.
It’s a “Crave Quiet” flyer initiative. If you have a favorite quiet location like a bookstore or restaurant, visit the Crave Quiet page to download the flyer. Ask the manager or owner of the location for permission to post the flyer. Snap a photo of the posted flyer and send it to [email protected].
Then, watch our movement grow. Follow us on social media to see photos of fliers being posted nationwide. Find us on Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky, and LinkedIn. Quiet Communities will be highlighting the people and communities leading the charge for quieter spaces. Together, let’s make the world a quieter and better place for all.
I’m going to start with our local independent children’s bookstore. I hope you will participate in this campaign with me.
