Kudos to the zoning enforcement authorities in Miami Beach for making a hotel turn down the volume. According to the Miami Herald, a new hotel with celebrity owners and developers installed a loud sound system in its nightclub. Then the neighbors complained.
The Miami Beach Planning Board called the hotel’s operators, including a local hospitality entrepreneur, David Grutman, before it to discuss repeated noise infractions and violations of the hotel’s outdoor entertainment permit. One of the conditions of the permit is that music should not be audible at the nearby Arcadia House Condominiums.
Grutman said the hotel had already made changes to its sound system and would make some more to comply with the permit.
We’re glad that at least one municipality in the country is enforcing its zoning ordinances. Unfortunately, most don’t.
